Traversing lifetimes outside the lines to seek the meaning of "home" in New York City, "520" (2018) was created—a visceral self-published photography book and exhibition, curated with photography and paintings spanning 2009 to 2017. This sensuous visual odyssey encapsulates a deeply personal narrative of resilience and transformation. "520" has garnered recognition, finding its place in esteemed collections such as the Irene Lewisohn Costume Reference Library of the Metropolitan Museum and the Asian Art Archive in America.

Ka Yan's cinematic prowess ignites in her 11:11-minute short film "It’s The Most Beautiful Before It’s Gone" (2021). Supported by New York Foundation of the Arts City Artist Corps Grants, this poignant short film has graced the screens of the YoU residency at the Queens Museum and bespoke spaces in Manhattan, accompanied by the live performance of the original score. The film captures the suspended beauty of Hong Kong on the brink of profound change, intertwining the mundane passage of time with the radical clash of memory and inevitable transition.
