Ka Yan is a filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist whose work merges art, culture, mysticism, and spirituality into unified experiences. Her creations explore multidimensional memory, human nature, and transformation. Through filmmaking, photography, publishing, and installations, Ka Yan illuminates the interconnectedness of existence.

Traversing lifetimes outside the lines to seek the meaning of "home" in New York City, 520 (2018) emerged—a visceral self-published photography book and exhibition featuring photography and paintings spanning 2009 to 2017. This body of work encapsulates a deeply personal journey of resilience and identity. 520  is now part of the collections at the Metropolitan Museum's Irene Lewisohn Costume Reference Library and the Asian Art Archive in America.

It’s The Most Beautiful Before It’s Gone (2021), an 11:11-minute short film supported by New York Foundation of the Arts' City Artist Corps Grants, reflects on Hong Kong's suspended beauty on the brink of profound change. Screened at the Queens Museum's YoU residency and intimate spaces in Manhattan, this film interweaves the mundane passage of time with the radical clash of memory and inevitable transition, portraying an evocative meditation on impermanence.
